Known today as "The Golden Egg of Aging™" and the Lady with "The Most Stunning Smile", she is highly recognized as one of the Top Writers and Authors on Aging, Seniors-Senior Lifestyle, the Baby Boomer Generation, and Women-Women's Issues of today. We call her the "Original Baby Boomer Promoter" because of her tremendous insight years previous to the coming of the Baby Boomer Wave of Aging Younger.

Shirley W. Mitchell was raised in the South in Northern Alabama on a tenant cotton farm working with all her family members in the tenant cotton fields. Even at that young age, she had a vision and passion to make her life and others' lives more productive, seeing what hard, long work days and getting older did to those around her.

Her "Quest" or "Mission", since, has been to "Promote Positive Aging" for all, especially for those who are approaching or who might have attained that Golden 50 and Beyond. To help all those who are struggling to find a comfortable zone from which to inspire their own passions, hopes and dreams.

A Columnist of the "Fabulous after Fifty™" Newspaper Column in the Sand Mountain Reporter for the past 19 years, and the On-Line Syndicated Column, "Spiritual Sparks for Baby Boomers™". She is a regular Contributing Columnist for Senior Lifestyle Magazine, Senior Evangelism, and "Passionate for Life Magazine".

The Fall 2009 graduating class of FIDM-Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's Apparel Manufacturing Management Program is pleased to announce the launch party for Beaucoup, a Contemporary Sportswear Line for 45-60 Year Young Women. An interactive presentation of Beaucoup will be held at FIDM's Standard Oil Building on December 17 at 1PM-PST. It will be held in the area where Project Runway was filmed this season and is presented for fashion industry professionals (we may even have some celeb appearances!).

This Event is the culmination of a class taken in the last quarter of the Apparel Manufacturing Management Program, where students design and produce an apparel line. Each student has an assigned role within the company. Mel Grayson is the Instructor, and functions as the Owner, Final Decision Maker and Mentor as the Class moves through the planning process.

In support of the success of Christian retailers, 79 exhibitors at this year's Show have chosen to express their partnership with retailers and CBA in a new way. The CBA-International Christian Retail Show is the largest annual gathering in the world of anyone and everyone involved in the creation and distribution of Christian products. It is the place where the Christian Retail Channel meets, and it all provides some excellent interview and story opportunities for all types of media. Many newspaper and magazine writers, as well as television and radio program producers, come every year and put dozens of interviews in the can in just a few days or use the time to scout for future guests or stories. Private rooms and other interview space is made available for media to talk with the hundreds of authors, recording artists and other personalities and experts who attend the show. CBA is the trade association for the Christian Retail Channel, serving the interests and meeting the needs of member Christian stores including independents, regional and national chains, church-owned stores, franchises, and marketing groups. These stores provide Bibles, Christian books, curriculum, apparel, music, videos, gifts, greeting cards, children's resources, and other materials. CBA and their member stores also work with associate-member book publishers, record companies, gift companies, and other product suppliers. Along with the Christian Trade Association International, CBA also serves the meeting and information needs of Christian stores and suppliers in over 50 countries around the world. Today, February 6, 2009 is National Wear Red Day promoting prevention of heart disease. The simple, powerful way to raise an awareness of heart disease and stroke and support the fight against heart disease in women is to Wear Red Today. I will be Wearing Red Today, why don't you join me. Also a donation to the American Heart Association would be a great help.

July 4th, 2008, my perfect health for 70 years came to a sudden stand still. Thanks to modern medicine and a Heart Pacemaker placed in my chest, I am again a bionic woman with a second chance at life. It took me a few days to get my mind wrapped around the fact that my perfect health I had enjoyed all my life was gone.

I felt like King David in 1 Samuel 30:1-6, King James Version of the Bible. "And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire:

(2) And had taken the women captives and were therein: they slew not any, either great of small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

(3) So King David and his men cane to the city, and behold it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

(4) Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep.

(5) And King David's two wives were taken captives.

(6) And King David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people were grieved, every man for his sons, and for his daughters: BUT KING DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD.

As David, we will pray to our God and He will hear. Verse 8, "And David enquired at the Lord, shall I pursue after this troop? (Amelekites) Shall I overtake them? And He answered, pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all." And David recovered all! Verse 18, "And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away; and David rescued his two wives."

So, like King David, I grieved over my sick heart, then I encouraged myself in my God. Being under the umbrella of God's presence I knew my new Heart Pacemaker was gain, not loss. Nothing is lost under the protection of God. As we live the Christian Abundant Life, our recovery from hard times begins on the inside soul as we connect with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Encourage your self in the Lord today and wear RED! Connect with Him for divine guidance. The victory is yours. There is victory in Jesus.

Many people in our world today are hurting! We are in war, economic stress, global warming, natural disasters, failing health, families are falling apart, and addiction plague many lives. In such times as these it is imperative we connect with our creator, the ruler of the universe.

As I charge forward with my new Heart Pacemaker, I have a new zeal for encouraging others to encourage themselves in their God, making their grand finale of life victorious!
